FORT GENERAL GREGORIO H. DEL PILAR, Baguio City — The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) joined nationwide celebrations of Philippine Independence Day, reaffirming its commitment to developing military leaders tasked with safeguarding the country’s freedom and future.

The observance, held at the PMA headquarters in Baguio City, formed part of the country’s commemoration of the 128th anniversary of Philippine independence under the theme, “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan.”

PMA Superintendent Vice Admiral Caesar Bernard N. Valencia read the message of the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, emphasizing the military’s continuing responsibility to protect the liberties secured by previous generations.

The message called on soldiers, airmen, sailors, marines and civilian personnel of the Armed Forces to preserve the nation’s freedom through patriotism, discipline and integrity while serving as examples to fellow Filipinos.

The academy said the ceremony underscored that independence is not only a historic achievement but also an enduring responsibility requiring continued service and commitment to the nation.

PMA, the country’s premier military training institution, said its participation in the commemoration reaffirmed its role in shaping future officers and leaders dedicated to protecting national sovereignty and advancing the country’s future.

The event was part of nationwide Independence Day activities held across government institutions, military units and local communities on June 12.
