BAGUIO CITY — In the wake of the far-reaching devastation left behind by Super Typhoon Egay, the Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) is leaving no stone unturned in its relentless efforts to restore power to Baguio City and Benguet Province.
With unwavering determination, BENECO is tirelessly working to bring light back to the affected communities, signaling a resolute response to the aftermath of the natural disaster.
According to BENECO representative Laarni S. Ilagan, BENECO linemen are now focusing on addressing individual concerns of residents with the successful energization of all 129 barangays of Baguio City.
However, in Benguet Province, the municipality of Kibungan remains without electricity at this time due to the severity of damaged, eroded, bent, and uprooted poles.
Despite this challenge, BENECO assures the public that their linemen are working tirelessly to resolve the issue and bring power back to the affected areas.
BENECO is also praying for better weather conditions to expedite power restoration efforts and ensure the safety and well-being of both their linemen and the affected communities.
Damage reports from the affected municipalities of Bakun and Kibungan are gradually coming in from BENECO Engineers who have been deployed throughout Benguet.
Restoration efforts are currently ongoing in these areas.
To support the restoration process, all municipalities of Benguet have deployed dedicated jobbers who are conducting restoration work in their respective areas.
This collaborative effort aims to accelerate the recovery process and ensure that power is restored to all communities affected by the typhoon.
BENECO update as of 12 NN on August 1, 2023 shared by Ms. Ilagan stated that the total damages reported amount to P11,659,676.71.
Despite the significant challenges posed by the typhoon, there has been considerable progress in power restoration.
Currently, 88.49% of consumers’ power has been restored across Baguio City and Benguet Province.
In Baguio City, 98.83% of consumers have already had their power restored.
While all barangays of Baguio City have been energized, there are still isolated cases where power restoration is underway.
BENECO is actively addressing these cases to ensure that every affected area receives the necessary attention and support.
The cooperative expresses gratitude to the public for their patience and understanding during this challenging time.
As the power restoration efforts continue, BENECO remains dedicated to bringing back normalcy and restoring power to every home and establishment in Baguio City and Benguet Province.
Further updates on the power restoration progress and additional damage assessments will be provided as they become available.
