SM City Baguio spotlights Cordillera coffee at festival
BAGUIO CITY — SM City Baguio is showcasing Cordillera coffee brands and the region’s coffee-growing communities through its Coffee N’ Chill Festival, an event that organizers say aims to highlight locally produced coffee and the people behind the industry.
Running until Aug. 2, the festival brings together several Baguio-based cafés and coffee businesses, including Guest Haven Coffee, Brew & Alchemy, Holy-Grounds Cafe, Kape Umali, Hill Station and James Wright.
According to SM Supermalls, the event forms part of its nationwide Coffee N’ Chill Festival, which is being held simultaneously across 75 participating malls and features coffee brands, specialty brews and activities designed to promote Philippine coffee culture.
At SM City Baguio, the focus is on Cordillera-grown coffee, with organizers highlighting the contributions of local farmers, roasters and entrepreneurs whose work supports one of the country’s recognized coffee-producing regions.
The festival also seeks to encourage consumers to support locally owned coffee businesses by introducing visitors to specialty beverages made from beans sourced from the Cordillera highlands.
Coffee has become an increasingly important part of everyday life in the Philippines, while interest in locally sourced and specialty coffee continues to grow alongside independent cafés and regional coffee producers.
SM Supermalls said the event is intended to celebrate local culture and provide a venue where visitors can discover homegrown coffee brands and learn more about the journey of coffee from farm to cup.
SM City Baguio invites the public to visit the festival before it concludes on Aug. 2.
