BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Baguio Country Club (BCC) opened its 2026 Christmas Village festivities with a Media Day on Oct. 23, welcoming members of the media and their families despite rainy weather, ahead of the attraction’s scheduled public grand opening on Oct. 24.
This year’s celebration carries the theme “Christmas in Candyland,” with a program featuring festive lights, colorful decorations and seasonal attractions.
A fireworks display is scheduled for 6 p.m. on opening day.
The Christmas Village will remain open until Jan. 3, 2027, giving visitors an opportunity to experience the holiday attraction throughout the Christmas season.
Traditional attractions retain a spiritual focus
The Christmas Village, which began in 2011, continues to feature traditional attractions, including simulated snowfall and a nativity presentation, according to BCC resident manager Mary Lou B. Galiste.
Galiste said the nativity presentation remains an important part of the annual celebration, preserving its spiritual significance alongside the village’s festive attractions.
“We want everybody to enjoy this, and we welcome everybody to spend time despite the many challenges that we are facing,” Galiste said.
She also urged people to pray for peace amid global uncertainties, emphasizing the importance of taking a break from the difficulties of everyday life.
“Kasama yan sa ating buhay ngayon, so let’s move forward, let’s pray hard for peace, peace dito sa ating mundo kasi magulo na and let’s hope that everybody will be well and good. Sa hirap ng buhay, we need a time out from the many challenges that we face everyday,” she said.
In English, she said that life’s challenges are part of the present reality, but people should move forward, pray for peace in a troubled world and hope for everyone’s well-being. She added that people need a break from the difficulties they face each day.
Combined ticket offers access to nature park
Galiste also encouraged visitors to consider the club’s Two-in-One promotional package, which combines admission to the Christmas Village with entry to the Flora & Fauna Park.
The park has expanded its animal collection and includes a bonsai garden, according to Galiste.
She also said the facility now produces its own balut and penoy, traditional Filipino delicacies made from fertilized and developing duck eggs, respectively.
Visitors purchasing the combined package are advised to visit the park first because it closes at 5 p.m., earlier than the Christmas Village.
