Two drug suspects arrested in Baguio

BAGUIO CITY — Police arrested two suspected drug personalities in Baguio City, including a regional-level top most wanted person, and seized suspected methamphetamine worth about 133,960 pesos in a series of anti-illegal drug operations across the Cordillera region on Sept. 8, according to the Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO CAR).

The Baguio arrests involved a 33-year-old woman listed as the No. 6 regional-level Top Most Wanted Person (TMWP), and a 36-year-old man whom police identified as a street-level individual (SLI).

The woman was arrested in Barangay Loakan by virtue of a warrant of arrest for an alleged violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, PRO CAR said.

The 36-year-old man was arrested after allegedly fleeing a routine police checkpoint on Bonifacio Street while riding a motorcycle, police said.

Police Station 7 personnel of the Baguio City Police Office had stopped the man for inspection and to check his Official Receipt and Certificate of Registration, or OR/CR, according to the police account.

After he allegedly failed to present the required documents and fled, officers pursued him.

A search of his belt bag allegedly yielded five sachets containing suspected shabu with a combined weight of 10.1 grams, which police valued at 68,680 pesos based on the standard drug price, PRO CAR said.

In Kalinga, police also arrested a 37-year-old man identified as the No. 5 provincial-level TMWP in Barangay Balabag West, Rizal.

He was also listed as a high-value individual (HVI) and was arrested on a warrant for an alleged violation of RA 9165, PRO CAR said.

Three other suspects were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Abra.

In Barangay Cabuloan, Bangued, police arrested a 42-year-old man listed as an HVI and seized 5.59 grams of suspected shabu valued at 38,012 pesos.

A 39-year-old man classified as an SLI was arrested in Barangay Bangbangar, Bangued, after police seized 1.6 grams of suspected shabu with a stated value of 10,880 pesos.

In Barangay Mudeng, La Paz, police arrested a 19-year-old man, also classified as an SLI, after he allegedly sold a sachet containing 2.41 grams of suspected shabu valued at 16,388 pesos.

PRO CAR said it would continue to intensify operations against illegal drugs across the Cordillera region as part of efforts to maintain safe and drug-free communities.
