BAGUIO CITY — SM City Baguio has received two environmental awards from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ Environmental Management Bureau in the Cordillera Administrative Region (EMB-DENR CAR), recognizing its wastewater treatment, water conservation and environmental education initiatives.
The awards were presented during the 9th Cordillera Environment Summit, held as part of the culmination of Philippine Environment Month 2026.
Under the Best Adherence to Discipline for Advancing National Green-governance (BADANG) recognition program, the mall received the Excellence in Wastewater Treatment and Water Conservation Award and the Environmental IEC Leadership Award.
The recognitions cited the mall’s environmental management practices, including its rainwater treatment facility and water conservation measures designed to maximize water reuse and improve resource efficiency in daily operations.
SM Supermalls said the initiatives are intended to reduce the mall’s environmental footprint while promoting responsible resource management and environmental awareness among tenants, employees and the wider community.
The company said the awards underscore its broader sustainability efforts, which include resource conservation, environmental education and operational practices aimed at supporting long-term environmental stewardship.
SM City Baguio said it would continue integrating sustainability into its operations while encouraging practical actions that contribute to environmental protection and community resilience.
