BCDA, StB GigaFactory sign clean energy pact
NEW CLARK CITY, Philippines — The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and StB GigaFactory, Inc. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore renewable energy generation, energy storage systems, and e-mobility solutions across New Clark City and other BCDA-managed properties, BCDA said in a press release.
The 12-month agreement will provide BCDA with site access, project data, and administrative support, while StB GigaFactory will conduct site surveys, feasibility studies, and financial modeling to recommend clean energy deployment strategies.
“Partnering with StB GigaFactory aligns directly with our vision to make New Clark City a model of sustainable, high-tech urban development,” BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang said. “By integrating cutting-edge energy storage and clean mobility solutions into our master plan, we are building a resilient infrastructure framework that empowers industries, protects the environment, and drives long-term economic growth.”
StB GigaFactory, based at the Filinvest Innovation Park, operates the country’s first Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery cell and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing plant.
The company has created 500 jobs and plans to expand its workforce to 2,500 by 2030.
Officials said the partnership supports the administration’s priorities of strengthening national energy security, accelerating renewable power adoption, and enhancing climate resilience.
The signing was attended by StB GigaFactory CEO Dennis C. Ibarra, Business Development Manager Ruth G. Butalid, BCDA Vice President Erwin Kenneth R. Peralta, and BCDA President Bingcang.
