Panagbenga parades peaceful under tight security
BAGUIO CITY (March 2, 2026) — Major events of the Panagbenga Festival concluded peacefully over the weekend, with authorities reporting orderly crowds and no major disruptions during two of the festival’s largest parades.
The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) said the Grand Street Dance Parade on Feb. 28 and the Grand Floral Float Parade on March 1 were conducted without incident.
Police attributed the smooth operations to comprehensive safety and contingency planning, coordination meetings, simulation exercises and pre-event walkthroughs.
The security effort was carried out under the supervision of the Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region, led by PBGen. Ericson D. Dilag.
Authorities implemented a three-layered containment ring strategy and operational plans, including IMPLAN KaLMang Paglalakbay and OPLAN D.R.I.V.E., while deploying drone technology for crowd monitoring and situational awareness.
BCPO City Director Col. Ruel D. Tagel said the incident-free conduct of the parades highlighted effective inter-agency coordination and strong community cooperation.
The Panagbenga Festival, known for its elaborate floral floats and street performances, draws thousands of residents and tourists to Baguio City each year.
