BAGUIO CITY – Gwendoline Meliz Soriano, the reigning Miss Baguio 2025, was officially sashed by the city government of Baguio during the Flag Raising Ceremony held at the Baguio City Hall grounds on February 3, 2025.
The event was led by Baguio City Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan, along with city council members, signifying the local government’s support for Soriano’s journey.
Also present at the ceremony was Miss Universe Philippines Baguio Managing Director, Atty. Pablo Sanidad II, who joined Soriano as she received her official sash.
This marks a historic moment as Soriano becomes the first-ever Miss Baguio representative to compete in the prestigious Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) pageant under the newly established MUP Baguio franchise.
Soriano, 26, is a resident of Bakakeng Central and a graduate of BA in Mass Communication from Saint Louis University and Trinity University of Asia.
A multi-talented individual, she enjoys dancing, singing, acting, hosting, photography, and writing.
Her passion for the performing arts began at the age of three, and she continued performing cultural dances throughout her school years, eventually joining her university’s dance troupe.
Beyond her artistic pursuits, Soriano is an advocate for cultural preservation and self-expression through the performing arts.
She describes herself as an introvert yet a people person, favoring creativity over athletics.
She also has a butterfly tattoo, inspired by a movie linked to her father’s choice of her name.
With nearly four years of experience in modeling, she has appeared in over 20 commercial and digital ads.
Soriano believes in mastering any endeavor she commits to, always striving for excellence, integrity, and a greater purpose.
