MANILA, Philippines — BDO Life Assurance Co. Inc. approved an insurance claim filed by the family of a deceased policyholder within hours of receiving the required documents, providing the beneficiaries with financial support during a period of bereavement, according to a press release issued by the company.
The family of Jhun Benedicto submitted the claim documents at a BDO branch on a Monday morning through their financial adviser.
By noon, the family had been informed that the claim was approved, with the check scheduled for collection the following morning.
The claim followed the death of Benedicto’s son, Dominic, who had named his sister, Lora, as the beneficiary of his life insurance policy.
The company said the prompt approval came as a surprise to the family, which had anticipated a longer claims process.
Jhun, who has experience in the non-life insurance sector, had expected the claim to involve the administrative delays commonly associated with insurance transactions.
Instead, the family received confirmation of approval on the same day it submitted the documents.
According to the company, the settlement process was intended to ease the financial uncertainty that can accompany the loss of a family member.
The benefit also reflected Dominic’s decision to provide for his sister through his insurance coverage.
