BAGUIO CITY (March 2, 2026) — The Baguio City Police Office arrested two men in separate firearm-related incidents over the weekend, recovering weapons and preventing potential harm to the public.

On Sunday, March 1, a 29-year-old man allegedly grabbed the issued firearm of an active police officer along T. Alonzo Street and fled toward Lower Magsaysay Avenue.

During a pursuit near Baguio Central University, he discharged the weapon downward and sustained a gunshot wound to his left hip.

He was transported to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for treatment. The firearm was recovered.

A day earlier, police arrested a 33-year-old man who allegedly discharged a 9mm pistol inside his compound along Padre Zamora Street while intoxicated.

Officers recovered the firearm and 14 live rounds.

Both suspects are facing charges for alleged violations of firearms laws and were subjected to inquest proceedings.

BCPO City Director Col. Ruel D. Tagel commended responding officers, saying swift action prevented further escalation.
