BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Baguio will host the fifth Cordillera Festival of Festivals on Oct. 17, bringing together festival highlights from the region’s six provinces and two cities for a celebration of Cordillera culture and traditions, the Department of Tourism-Cordillera Administrative Region (DOT-CAR) said.
The festival will feature a regional parade and program along key city roads, with temporary traffic closures scheduled before, during and after the event.
Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong issued Executive Order No. 155, series of 2026, declaring Oct. 16-17 for the celebration, according to the Baguio City Public Information Office.
DOT-CAR will lead the planning, coordination and implementation of the event in partnership with the city government and other government agencies, organizations and stakeholders.
DOT-CAR describes the 2026 staging as a milestone fifth year for the festival, which seeks to celebrate the cultural heritage and traditions of the Cordillera Administrative Region.
The festival will bring together signature festival highlights from the region’s six provinces — Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mountain Province — and its two cities, Baguio and Tabuk, DOT-CAR said.
The main activity on Oct. 17 will begin with a parade traversing Harrison Road, Magsaysay Avenue and the Magsaysay Avenue-Session Road intersection before reaching upper Session Road, where the program proper is scheduled at 9 a.m. at the Session Road rotunda.
The city government said traffic management and public safety measures will be implemented because the event is expected to draw government officials, tourism groups, media, influencers, visitors and other participants.
Under a separate Executive Order No. 154, series of 2026, portions of Session Road, Harrison Road, Magsaysay Avenue and Gov. Pack Road will be closed to vehicles at specified periods on Oct. 16-17 to accommodate rehearsals, event preparations, the parade, the main program and dismantling activities.
The first closure will run from 5 p.m. on Oct. 16 to 6 a.m. on Oct. 17 at a portion of upper Session Road parallel to Post Office Loop.
Additional closures will take effect from midnight to noon on Oct. 17 for stage and tent setup, followed by parade-related closures from 5 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
The portions used for the festival program will remain closed from 9 a.m. to noon and from noon to 5 p.m. on Oct. 17 to accommodate the program and the subsequent removal of event structures and equipment.
Motorists and commuters have been advised to plan their trips around the scheduled closures.
The festival is intended to showcase the region’s local identities, creativity and traditions while encouraging regional pride and appreciation of Cordillera culture, DOT-CAR said.
The 2025 edition, the fourth staging, also brought together festival contingents representing the Cordillera’s six provinces and two cities.
Reports on last year’s celebration also documented regional products, crafts and other tourism-related activities.
The city government said the celebration supports the objectives of Republic Act 9593, or the Tourism Act of 2009, including the promotion of Philippine tourism and the country’s cultural heritage.
