MANILA, Philippines — Public and private sector leaders reinforced their commitment to disaster resilience as ARISE Philippines convened its 2026 Annual General Meeting, highlighting new initiatives aimed at accelerating preparedness efforts nationwide.

The meeting, led by Hans Sy, chairperson of ARISE Philippines and chairman of the executive committee of SM Prime Holdings, gathered key stakeholders to align strategies supporting the country’s long-term resilience goals.

A major highlight of the event was the ceremonial launch of the new ARISE Philippines website, designed to enhance collaboration, information sharing and stakeholder engagement across sectors.

Organizers also introduced the ARISE Knowledge Management System: SkillsBuild by IBM, a technology-driven platform facilitated by Asia Pacific College.

The system aims to equip institutions and communities with digital tools and training resources to strengthen disaster risk reduction and response capabilities.

The initiative underscores a broader push to integrate innovation and capacity-building into resilience planning as the Philippines faces increasing climate and disaster risks.

The gathering drew support from key government agencies, including the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Science and Technology, DOST-PHIVOLCS and the Bureau of Fire Protection, signaling a unified national approach.

ARISE Philippines said the strengthened partnerships and new digital platforms are expected to play a critical role in achieving its target of advancing resilience by 2030.
