DQ taps Filipino nostalgia with Sorbetes Fiesta Blizzard line
MANILA — Dairy Queen Philippines is betting on the growing global appeal of Filipino flavors with the launch of Sorbetes Fiesta, a limited-edition collection of Blizzard treats inspired by traditional street-style sorbetes.
The new lineup, unveiled on Monday at Dairy Queen’s Gateway 2 Mall branch in Araneta City, features three flavors rooted in familiar Filipino desserts and snacks: Ube-st Graham, Klasik Quezo, and Avocashew.
The launch comes as Filipino cuisine continues to gain international recognition, with ingredients such as ube, cheese and avocado increasingly appearing in desserts and specialty food offerings worldwide.
“We’re very proud of it because usually we come up with American flavors, but this time around, we asked ourselves, ‘What is very iconic in the Philippines?'” PPI Holdings Inc. Chief Operating Officer Chacha Juinio said during the launch event.
Juinio said the company sought to reinterpret classic sorbetes flavors using Dairy Queen’s signature vanilla soft serve while keeping the nostalgic appeal of the traditional Filipino street dessert.
DQ Philippines Marketing Manager Jane Sace described the collection as bringing “a proudly Pinoy twist to the iconic DQ Blizzard,” combining what she called the “OG ice cream indulgence” with “Pinoy OG ice cream.”
The Ube-st Graham Blizzard blends vanilla soft serve with ube halaya and graham crackers before being topped with additional ube and graham pieces.
Klasik Quezo combines vanilla soft serve with cheese sauce and shredded cheese, while Avocashew mixes avocado puree with cashew nuts and is finished with additional avocado and cashews.
The products are available as Blizzard desserts starting at P119 or served in waffle cones priced at P99.
During the launch, Dairy Queen decorated the venue with Filipino-inspired streetwear motifs and traditional fiesta elements.
Guests participated in games, watched dance performances and were served Filipino dishes including pancit, lechon and kakanin alongside Taco Bell meals.
The company said Sorbetes Fiesta is now available for dine-in and takeout across its 146 stores nationwide and through delivery platforms GrabFood, foodpanda and Pickaroo.
