MANILA, July 15 — TCL Philippines on Wednesday introduced its new Super-QD MiniLED display technology, saying the platform combines improvements in Mini LED backlighting, quantum dot color performance and light filtering as the company seeks to strengthen its position in the premium television market.

The consumer electronics company said Super-QD MiniLED, or SQD-MiniLED, is more than a branding update and represents the latest evolution of its Mini LED display technology.

The new platform integrates three core technologies designed to improve picture quality.

The first, Precise Dimming, uses upgraded light-emitting chips, micro-lens technology, reduced halo interference, a micro-optical distance (Micro-OD) design and advanced light control algorithms to deliver higher brightness, improved contrast, smoother motion and a thinner television profile, the company said.

The second component, Super QLED, expands color performance with what TCL said is a 33% wider color gamut, 17% higher color purity and 45% optimization in blue light energy, aimed at producing richer colors while improving viewing comfort.

The third technology, Ultra Color Filter, uses filtering materials with particle sizes below five nanometers to reduce color impurities and improve color accuracy, according to TCL.

“TCL’s mission has always been to make advanced technology accessible while continuing to push the boundaries of what display products can do,” Daniel Sun, chief technology officer at TCL Industries, said in a statement.

The launch comes as demand for larger televisions and higher-end display technologies continues to grow worldwide.

Citing market research firm Omdia, TCL said it ranked first globally by shipment market share in 2025 for televisions measuring 75 inches and above, Mini LED TVs, and Google TVs.

TCL also highlighted its flagship X11L television, which it described as the world’s first SQD-MiniLED flagship TV.

The company said the model received the Innovative Display Technology Gold Award during CES 2026 at the Global Top Brands Awards, organized by International Data Group with support from IDC.

Founded in 1981, TCL Electronics operates in more than 160 markets and manufactures televisions, audio products and smart home appliances.
