BCDA remits ₱5.7B to Treasury, dividends peak ₱2.6B
MANILA, Philippines — The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) on Tuesday turned over ₱5.7 billion to the Bureau of the Treasury, marking its latest contribution to national funding for infrastructure, social services, and military modernization.
The remittance, made on April 28, 2026, was 5 percent higher than the ₱5.45 billion recorded in 2025, reflecting stronger performance across BCDA’s economic zones and partnerships.
Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go, who witnessed the turnover, said the agency’s role extends beyond generating dividends.
“BCDA is a true developer of progress, creating platforms and jobs that uplift millions of Filipinos,” Go said.
Of the total, ₱2.6 billion came from dividends — the highest in BCDA’s history and 18 percent higher than last year’s ₱2.2 billion.
The amount represents 61 percent of net earnings, exceeding the 50 percent minimum required under the Dividend Law.
BCDA President and CEO Engr. Joshua M. Bingcang said the remittance underscores accountability and impact.
“Every peso we remit translates to real improvements in people’s daily lives,” Bingcang said.
The dividends include ₱300 million earmarked to help cushion the impact of rising fuel prices on vulnerable sectors.
The remaining ₱3.09 billion came from asset disposition proceeds, with a significant share allocated to the Armed Forces of the Philippines modernization program.
BCDA also remitted ₱25 million in guarantee fees tied to the government’s loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency for the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway.
Officials said the funds are equivalent to building 330 kilometers of roads, 2,300 classrooms, or 1,700 hospital beds nationwide, and can support about 3,800 housing units under the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Program.
