Shincheonji marks 42nd anniversary with global gatherings
MANILA, Philippines — Shincheonji Church of Jesus marked its 42nd founding anniversary with coordinated celebrations across the Philippines and worldwide, underscoring the group’s continued expansion and emphasis on Bible-based teachings.
A total of 1,910 members attended services at 31 onsite locations nationwide, while an additional 484 joined virtually, according to the organization.
The Philippine events formed part of a broader global commemoration observed by the denomination.
The main anniversary service was held March 15 at the church’s Cheongju congregation in South Korea, drawing more than 2,000 attendees in person.
The event was streamed live to members across South Korea and in multiple countries.
Chairman Lee Man-hee, speaking during the service, urged followers to maintain faith grounded in the Bible, with particular emphasis on the Book of Revelation.
He described scripture as the “unchanging Word of God” and called on members to remain steadfast in their beliefs.
Founded on March 14, 1984, Shincheonji Church of Jesus began with small gatherings before expanding internationally.
The church attributes its growth to structured Bible education programs, particularly those conducted through its Zion Christian Mission Center, which it says has produced large numbers of graduates worldwide.
The organization also highlighted its expanding network of cooperation agreements with churches globally, reporting hundreds of partnerships in South Korea and thousands more across dozens of countries.
Beyond religious activities, Shincheonji cited its humanitarian initiatives, including blood donation drives, plasma contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, and volunteer work in disaster-affected communities.
The church said it continues to conduct medical missions and outreach programs aimed at supporting vulnerable groups.
