PRO CAR deploys 1,604 police for Holy Week security
BAGUIO CITY — Police have intensified security across the Cordillera Administrative Region, deploying 1,604 personnel to safeguard residents and travelers during Holy Week and the summer travel rush, authorities said.
Police Brigadier General Ericson D. Dilag, regional director, ordered the regionwide deployment covering major highways, transport terminals and other high-traffic areas, anticipating a surge of travelers returning to their home provinces.
Officers have been stationed at bus terminals, transport hubs and main thoroughfares to manage traffic flow, assist passengers and deter crime as mobility increases in the coming days.
Security has also been tightened in churches, malls, markets, parks and other convergence areas hosting religious activities, as large crowds are expected throughout the observance.
The Police Regional Office Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO CAR) said the move is part of its commitment to deliver “mabilis, tapat, at nararamdamang serbisyo” (fast, honest and felt service), with personnel instructed to remain approachable and ready to assist the public.
Dilag also directed provincial and city police chiefs to coordinate closely with local government units and partner agencies to ensure a unified security effort.
Authorities said 91 additional personnel from augmentation units and 782 members of advocacy groups will support the deployment, boosting visibility and emergency response capabilities across the region.
Police remain on 24/7 operational readiness, with officers briefed to provide accurate directions, respond quickly to incidents and maintain order during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
The stepped-up security aims to ensure a safe, orderly observance of Holy Week and a smooth start to the summer vacation season, PRO CAR said.
