BAGUIO CITY — Our very own Krishnah Gravidez has been named Miss World Asia 2025, a regional title awarded during the Miss World 2025 pageant held in Hyderabad, India.
While Gravidez did not make it to the Top 4 finalists, her inclusion in the Top 8 and subsequent crowning as the Asian continental winner highlights both her strengths and the increasingly competitive nature of the pageant.
Gravidez was one of the early frontrunners from Asia, drawing comparisons with Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri, who ultimately went on to win the Miss World 2025 crown—a historic first for her country.
While Gravidez’s performance was commendable, the contrast between her journey and Opal’s historic win brings into focus the evolving expectations for pageant candidates on the global stage.
Observers noted that while Gravidez exhibited strong stage presence and carried a solid national advocacy, her impact may not have resonated as broadly or deeply as that of Opal, whose personal story as a breast cancer survivor and her project “OpalForHer” garnered widespread emotional and social traction.
Critics argue that Gravidez, like many past Filipina delegates, performed within the expected mold of beauty and grace—but may have fallen short in delivering a standout narrative that connected with international judges in a meaningful way.
In a pageant that increasingly values purpose over pageantry, this distinction could have been decisive.
Nevertheless, her achievement as Miss World Asia maintains the Philippines’ strong regional presence in global beauty contests and reflects her professionalism and composure throughout the competition.
Gravidez’s title adds to the country’s long-standing tradition of placing high in international pageants, though it also raises questions about what it now takes to truly win on a world stage.
