BAGUIO CITY — Globe has strengthened its mobile and data services in Baguio City by constructing new cell sites in three barangays.
This expansion reinforces its commitment to improving connectivity in the country’s summer capital.
In response to growing demand, Globe also upgraded existing sites in at least 40 locations across the city.
These enhancements are especially crucial during major events like the Panagbenga Festival, which attracts thousands of visitors.
“Globe remains committed to expanding connectivity in Baguio to meet the evolving needs of residents and visitors. With the city’s thriving economy and tourism industry, dependable mobile and data services are essential for seamless communication and supporting digital-driven enterprises,” Globe Service Planning and Engineering head Joel Agustin said.
The strategic placement of new towers improves network coverage and reliability, bridging communication gaps and providing better access to essential online services, including education, healthcare, and financial platforms.
This expansion also supports Baguio’s robust tourism industry, which contributes up to 25% of the city’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Baguio led the Cordillera Administrative Region’s economic growth in 2023, recording a nine percent increase.
This growth was primarily driven by the services sector, including accommodations and food service activities, which accounted for 73.7% of the city’s economy.
Reliable connectivity is especially crucial during events like the Panagbenga Festival.
Enhanced network services improve visitor experiences and support local businesses by ensuring seamless communication and easy access to digital services.
The Panagbenga Festival is a month-long celebration of Baguio’s culture and heritage, featuring grand float parades and vibrant street performances that highlight the rich traditions of the Cordilleras.
Beyond its natural beauty and cool climate, Baguio is also known for its diverse culinary scene and thriving arts community, making it a favorite destination for local tourists.
Globe’s ongoing network expansion aligns with the national digital agenda, driving inclusive economic growth and improving digital access.
By enhancing coverage in Baguio, Globe not only strengthens the tourism-driven economy but also creates better opportunities for residents and businesses.
