BAGUIO CITY — In a peaceful and orderly canvassing process, the Baguio City Board of Canvassers proclaimed the winners of the May 12, 2025 national and local elections minutes past midnight at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center.

Former city mayor Mauricio Domogan made a political comeback, clinching the congressional seat for Baguio’s lone district with 45,767 votes (35.68%), besting Isabelo Cosalan Jr. (PFP) who secured 32,690 votes (25.49%).

Cosalan, an incumbent councilor, gracefully conceded after the results were made official.

Incumbent Mayor Benjamin “Benjie” Magalong (NPC) earned a decisive third term, garnering 55,497 votes (42.8%) to edge out former Congressman Mark Go (NP) who received 43,732 votes (33.73%).

Go was the first to concede on election night, followed by fellow mayoral aspirant Benny Bomogao, who obtained 27,561 votes (21.26%).

Magalong expressed gratitude to the people of Baguio and vowed to continue the programs initiated during his previous terms.

“Rest assured that we will be very consistent. What we have shown during the first and second terms, you will see the same in the third,” Magalong said, reiterating his commitment to combat corruption and urban decay as part of his ongoing seven-point agenda.

Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan (PFP) secured reelection with a landslide 86,302 votes (70.95%), defeating Mylen Yaranon (NP) who garnered 35,338 votes (29.05%).

Completing the city’s new leadership lineup, twelve councilors were also proclaimed winners out of a competitive pool of candidates:

      3. Jose Molintas – 56,196
      4. Leandro Yangot Jr. – 55,972
      5. Vladimir Cayabas – 53,461
      6. Peter Fianza – 51,602
      7. Van Dicang – 49,434
      8. Fred Bagbagen – 48,642
      9. Paolo Salvosa – 48,544
      10. Betty Lourdes Tabanda – 47,807
      11. Yuri Weygan – 47,054
      12. Elmer Datuin – 46,036

The elections in Baguio were largely peaceful and well-organized, reflecting the city’s reputation for civic discipline and political maturity.

This successful electoral exercise marks another milestone in Baguio City’s democratic tradition and sets the tone for the incoming administration to continue advancing the city’s development agenda.
