BDO, Mastercard celebrate 20 years serving overseas Filipinos

MANILA – BDO Unibank and Mastercard marked 20 years of collaboration, underscoring their role in helping overseas Filipinos send money home and stay financially connected to their families.

The partnership, which combines BDO’s remittance network with Mastercard’s global payments infrastructure, has reached more than 4 million Filipinos abroad, according to the two companies.

“For the last 20 years, the collaboration between BDO and Mastercard has helped serve overseas Filipinos—over 4 million of them—and we look forward to the next 20 years of working with BDO,” said Jason Crasto, Mastercard country manager for the Philippines.

Millions of BDO ATM cards carrying the Mastercard logo are used locally and overseas, supporting transactions from remittances to daily purchases.

“At the heart of our 20-year collaboration with Mastercard is a shared commitment to serve our kabayans,” said Genie Gloria, senior vice president and head of Remittance at BDO.

She added that the focus remains on making remittances “not just a transaction, but a connection delivered with care and trust.”

Both organizations said they are working on new solutions to improve security, convenience, and accessibility for Filipinos navigating cross-border transactions.

Crasto noted that “a lot of innovation” will be announced in 2026, aimed at making transactions simpler and more secure.

The collaboration, BDO and Mastercard said, will continue to expand financial access and support Filipinos wherever they may be.
