BAGUIO CITY — Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong has ordered the suspension of classes in all levels, work in government offices, and the implementation of the number coding scheme on Monday, November 10, 2025, as the city braces for the onslaught of Typhoon Uwan.
In Executive Order No. 155, series of 2025, issued Friday, November 7, the local government also directed contractors, project owners, and construction managers to secure all construction sites in anticipation of strong winds and heavy rains.
The move aims to ensure public safety and prevent damage to life and property as the typhoon approaches Northern Luzon.
The advisory requires that temporary structures, materials, and equipment be anchored and stored properly, open excavations be protected to prevent erosion and landslides, and safety measures be enforced for both workers and the public.
All public parks in the city will likewise be closed on November 10 as a precautionary measure.
Residents are urged to stay alert, monitor official advisories, and call 911 for emergencies.
Meanwhile, SM City Baguio announced it will open its parking areas to the public for vehicle safety.
Overnight parking charges will be waived on November 8 and 9, 2025, according to the mall’s public service advisory.
As of 11:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, the DOST-PAGASA reported that Typhoon Uwan has intensified and is now inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
The weather bureau said Uwan’s center was estimated at 1,045 km east of Eastern Visayas and forecast to move west-northwestward before turning north-northwestward by Tuesday, November 11.
PAGASA said Uwan could make landfall over the southern portion of Isabela or the northern portion of Aurora late Sunday, November 9, or early Monday, November 10.
The typhoon is expected to rapidly intensify into a super typhoon by Saturday evening or Sunday morning and may hit at peak intensity before weakening over land.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 has been raised over parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, including Aurora, Isabela, Quirino, Quezon, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Northern Samar, among others.
PAGASA will issue its next weather bulletin at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8.
