BAGUIO CITY — Authorities have ordered the immediate closure of illegal hog-raising activities discovered along a creek easement in San Vicente Barangay following complaints of a persistent foul odor, city officials said.

A joint inspection on March 24 by the City Environment and Parks Management Office, Public Order and Safety Division, barangay officials of San Vicente, and the Public Information Office confirmed the presence of hog-raising operations in the area.

Inspectors found that the activities were being conducted within the creek easement, a violation of environmental and local sanitation regulations.

Authorities issued notices of violation to the operators, along with corresponding penalties, and directed them to cease all operations immediately.

Officials said the action was necessary to prevent further environmental degradation and protect public health, as waste from hog-raising activities can contaminate waterways and produce noxious odors affecting nearby communities.

The city government reiterated its commitment to enforcing environmental laws and urged residents to report similar violations that may pose risks to health and the environment.
