BAGUIO CITY — The 2025 National and Local Elections in Baguio City were conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner, with no crime incidents or major disturbances reported on election day, according to local authorities.

The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) attributed the smooth conduct of the elections to months of intensive security preparations.

A total of 775 police personnel were deployed across the city’s voting centers to ensure public safety, backed by round-the-clock monitoring to swiftly respond to any emerging issues.

Quick Response Teams and the Reactionary Standby Support Force were also placed on standby to provide immediate reinforcement if needed.

BCPO’s operations were closely coordinated with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and other partner agencies, forming a strong multi-agency effort that proved crucial in maintaining peace and order throughout the electoral process.

The discipline and cooperation of Baguio’s residents, further reinforced by information campaigns on election laws and guidelines, also played a vital role in the calm conduct of the polls.

“We were confident from the beginning that with proper preparations, strong community support, and the peace-loving character of the people of Baguio, we would have a successful midterm election,” said BCPO City Director PCOL Ruel D. Tagel.

He added that police forces remain on full alert status until two days after the election to ensure continued safety and security. While there were no crimes or major unfavorable incidents, a minor delay in the transmission of election returns was reported — the only issue encountered during the day.

Demonstrating their readiness and efficiency, BCPO was even able to dispatch 90 personnel to augment security operations in the province of Abra.

With the elections successfully concluded, BCPO reaffirmed its commitment to upholding public safety, pledging to maintain the same level of discipline and dedication in all future operations to keep Baguio City safe and secure.
