CAMP BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Authorities seized a substantial haul of marijuana bricks worth over P5 million in Sitio Jangayoy, Brgy Dangoy, Lubuagan, Kalinga on November 20, 2023, in a swift operation led by the Lumin-awa Cops of Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO).
Reports relayed to PRO Cordillera regional director David K. Peredo, Jr. detailed the proactive efforts of the operatives from Lubuagan Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the 2nd Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company.
The law enforcement officers swiftly mobilized, acting on intelligence regarding a male rider transporting marijuana bricks from Tinglayan to Tabuk City and another tip-off about a rider unloading a suspicious package by the road in Sitio Jangayoy.
Without delay, police operatives commenced a search along the national road toward Brgy Poblacion, Lubuagan, where they stumbled upon a duffle bag concealed amidst foliage.
Upon inspection, the bag revealed a stash of 49 pieces of marijuana bricks, collectively weighing approximately 49,000 grams, valued at a Standard Drug Price of Php5,880,000.00.
The discovery marked a significant dent in illegal drug trafficking activities in the region.
The markings and inventory of the seized evidence were meticulously conducted on-site in the presence of Barangay Kagawad John M. Ta-od from Brgy Dangoy, ensuring proper documentation of the operation.
Subsequently, the recovered marijuana bricks underwent further processing at Lubuagan MPS for thorough documentation and were subsequently transferred to the Kalinga Provincial Forensic Unit for detailed examination.
Despite the successful seizure, authorities remain vigilant, continuing a relentless manhunt operation and a comprehensive investigation to apprehend the perpetrator responsible for the illicit transportation and distribution of the confiscated illegal drugs.
