SM Scholarship Program opens pathways from classroom to career
BAGUIO CITY — The SM Scholarship Program continues to expand educational opportunities for Filipino students, with former beneficiaries now joining the workforce while a new generation of scholars prepares to pursue higher education.
SM Supermalls said the scholarship initiative has helped ease the financial burden on families while enabling students to complete their education and pursue professional careers.
Among its former scholars is Ivy Concepcion, who completed a degree in civil engineering through the program.
She now works as a Tenant Relations Officer at SM City Baguio, marking a full-circle journey from scholarship recipient to employee within the SM group.
Concepcion said the scholarship allowed her to finish college and later secure employment, helping improve her family’s circumstances.
The company also introduced incoming scholar Rose Atelba, who said the scholarship would allow her to continue her education while inspiring other young Filipinos facing financial challenges to persevere.
Rose’s father described the scholarship as more than financial assistance, saying it provides hope that his daughter can pursue higher education and build a better future.
Architect Jerico Bernardo, mall manager of SM City Baguio, said investing in education contributes to developing future professionals and leaders who can help drive community progress.
The scholarship program forms part of SM Supermalls’ broader community initiatives aimed at supporting education, strengthening families and expanding access to opportunities for Filipino youth, the company said.
