BAGUIO CITY — The Department of Education (DepEd) has approved the continued implementation of the weekend access schedule for the Baguio Teachers Camp (BTC) road, extending the arrangement until March 31, 2026, subject to further assessment.
In a letter dated December 10, 2025, addressed to Mayor Benjamin Magalong, DepEd Undersecretary and Chief of Staff Atty. Fatima Lipp Panontongan confirmed the approval following the recommendation of the city government and the assessment of the Traffic Management Working Group.
The extension aims to support the city’s ongoing traffic management measures, particularly in easing congestion along major routes near the BTC area.
DepEd also requested the assistance of the city government in deploying Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel to help manage traffic flow and enforce safety protocols during the designated access hours.
Under the approved schedule, the BTC road will be open to the public during the following periods:
DepEd reiterated several conditions for the implementation, including the closure of the road during Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board Examinations and other official events at BTC.
Only light vehicles will be allowed to pass, with a 20-kilometer-per-hour speed limit strictly enforced.
The blowing of horns is prohibited to preserve the camp’s peaceful environment, and two-way traffic will be observed during permitted hours.
DepEd expressed appreciation for the city government’s continued cooperation, emphasizing the shared objective of ensuring safety and smooth traffic flow in the area.
Mayor Magalong, for his part, thanked the department for considering the needs of the city and its residents.
