YGG Play Summit expands Skill District for 2025

MANILA, Philippines — YGG Play Summit has announced a major expansion of its Skill District for the event’s 2025 edition, adding new learning experiences aimed at preparing Filipinos for careers in Web3, AI, and the digital economy.

The enhanced education hub—designed by Metaversity, the learning arm of YGG Pilipinas—will feature workshops and forums that focus on practical, jobs-oriented skills across content creation, marketing, community management, and game development.

The Skill District forms part of the Summit’s City of Play, which also includes the Player District, Degen District, and The Arena.

Three new learning experiences headline this year’s expansion: Prompt to Prototype, a hands-on AI-powered game creation workshop; Metaversity Interactive, a forum uniting industry, government, and academe to address tech skills gaps; and Metaverse Filipino Worker (MFW) City, which will present the results of its residency program teaching Sui blockchain’s Move language to developers from the MIMAROPA region.

DICT MIMAROPA Regional Director Emmy Lou Versoza-Delfin said the partnership reflects the agency’s push for “Digital Bayanihan,” supporting nationwide digital job creation aligned with national directives for expanded tech employment.

The 2025 Future of Jobs Report by the World Economic Forum highlights technology as a major driver of labor-market transformation, forecasting millions of roles created and displaced globally.

YGG Pilipinas said this underscores the need for Filipinos to develop digital fluency to stay competitive.

STI College–BGC joins as the official school partner, alongside IT and esports organizations from more than 10 institutions including the University of Santo Tomas, National University, and the University of Southeastern Philippines.

Skill District programming will be led by partners such as Sui, which supported MFW City’s residency for over 120 developers who built blockchain MVPs under expert mentorship.

Two graduates will showcase their work on November 21 with Mysten Labs’ James Wing.

Prompt to Prototype, powered by B3 infrastructure and AI tools from OpenxAI, will guide up to 50 participants in building AI-generated game prototypes on November 22.

Meanwhile, Metaversity Interactive will convene key stakeholders on November 21 to map emerging tech skills demand and align future programs.

YGG Pilipinas Country Head Mench Dizon said the expanded Skill District aims to offer “actionable pathways into the digital economy” for Filipinos seeking growth.

Beyond the education hub, the Summit will host esports tournaments for Parallel, Vibes, and Might & Magic: Fates with a combined prize pool of US$125,000.

Industry leaders from studios and blockchain organizations—including Ubisoft, Gunzilla Games, Sky Mavis, SuperGaming, and Coins.ph—will headline panels and talks.

YGG Play Summit 2025 will run from November 19–22 at SMX Aura, Bonifacio Global City, with full details available on the event website.
