LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Team Lakay’s Carlos Alvarez guns for his fourth straight win in One Championship as he takes on debutant Title Chai in ONE Friday Fights 36 scheduled October 6, at the historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Alvarez has been a revelation in ONE Championship, maintaining an impeccable two-victory record within the organization.
His meteoric rise has captured the imagination of fight fans worldwide, owing to his exceptional skills and unyielding determination.
Alvarez made his ONE debut in April of this year, securing a second-round TKO victory over Reza Abasi, and subsequently, a second-round submission win against Sadegh Ghasemi.
Alvarez has showcased his versatility and well-rounded abilities in the ONE Circle, excelling in striking, wrestling, and grappling.
Coach Mark Sangiao, the guiding force behind Team Lakay’s remarkable success, firmly believes that Alvarez possesses a significant advantage in this bout.
Sangiao highlights Alvarez’s unwavering confidence as a key factor.
Aside from his confidence, Sangiao said the most significant asset that Alvarez brings into the cage is his completeness as a fighter.
His striking prowess is awe-inspiring, with a dynamic arsenal of striking techniques that can dismantle opponents with pinpoint precision.
His wrestling skills allow him to control the pace of the fight, dictate the distance, and secure takedowns when needed.
Additionally, Alvarez’s grappling proficiency makes him a threat on the mat, capable of submitting adversaries if the fight goes to the ground.
However, the Filipino fighter has been presented with the toughest challenge of his career to date, going up against a Thai/French featherweight who is a protege of former ONE athlete Mehdi Zatout.
Chai, ranked 37th in France as a lightweight, has already seen action against top fighters around the globe.
As the Team Lakay fighter recently wrapped up his training camp in La Trinidad and traveled to Thailand last week, a victory over Chai will solidify Alvarez’s status as one of the top contenders in the featherweight division.
