SSS LoanLite now available through UnionDigital Bank app
QUEZON CITY, Philippines — The Social Security System (SSS) said UnionDigital Bank (UD) has begun accepting applications for SSS LoanLite, a digital microloan facility that allows qualified members to apply for short-term financial assistance through the bank’s mobile application.
SSS said UD is the first of four participating financial institutions (PFIs) to make the program available through a digital platform.
“After months of preparation, SSS LoanLite is finally here. Qualified members can now apply through the UnionDigital Bank mobile application, making access to short-term financial assistance more convenient and secure,” SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Joseph M. de Claro said, according to a press release issued by SSS.
“We are also working with our other PFIs, which will soon make SSS LoanLite available through their respective digital platforms,” he added.
SSS said LoanLite is intended to provide qualified members with an alternative source of short-term credit for immediate financial needs while promoting the use of formal financial services.
The program is the first SSS loan facility for employed members that allows qualified private-sector employees to apply through a participating financial institution’s mobile application without the employer certification normally required for conventional SSS short-term loans, according to SSS.
Under the program, qualified members may apply for loans ranging from ₱1,000 to ₱20,000, depending on the average of their 12 latest Monthly Salary Credits.
Repayment periods are set at 15, 30, 60 or 90 days, while the stated interest rate is 8% per year, or about 0.67% per month.
SSS said applications and related transactions are conducted through the UD mobile application and that eligible applications may be processed and approved within minutes, subject to SSS and PFI requirements, verification procedures and system processing.
Eligibility requirements
SSS said members must meet the eligibility requirements under SSS Circular No. 2026-005 to qualify for LoanLite.
Among the requirements cited by SSS are having at least 36 total contributions, including at least six posted monthly contributions within the 12 months immediately preceding the loan application, subject to the other conditions under the circular.
Members must also meet applicable age requirements, have no past-due Short-Term Member Loans or active SSS Micro Loan, maintain an account with the participating financial institution enrolled in its online facility, and satisfy requirements relating to existing loans, benefit claims and SSS account status.
SSS advised members to review Circular No. 2026-005 for the complete eligibility requirements, loan terms, conditions and other program details.
Loan repayments will be collected under an automatic debit arrangement, which SSS said will serve as the default collection method.
Deductions will mainly be made from the account into which the loan proceeds were credited.
SSS encouraged borrowers to make payments on time to maintain good standing and remain eligible for future LoanLite availment, subject to applicable requirements.
Warning against third-party loan processors
SSS said LoanLite is part of its efforts to expand access to formal financial services and provide members with an alternative to informal lending.
“SSS LoanLite is part of our broader effort to expand access to formal financial services and protect our members from predatory lending. Through our partnership with UD, we are supporting faster, safer, and more convenient access to credit for qualified members,” de Claro said, according to the SSS release.
SSS reminded members to use only the official UD mobile application when applying and warned them against transacting with individuals or third parties claiming to process LoanLite applications.
The agency also advised members to review the loan disclosure statement before accepting an offer, including applicable interest, fees, repayment schedules and other terms and conditions.
SSS said it is working with its other participating financial institutions to make LoanLite available through their respective digital platforms.
