BAGUIO CITY – During its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) Campaign on January 31, SSS Baguio mandated ten non-compliant employers to rectify their outstanding dues.

“Based on our records, one of the ten employers incurred a total of P303,660.63 unremitted contributions inclusive of penalties. The other nine failed to produce documents such as payroll accounts and collection list to support their claims of SSS contribution payment and register their businesses to SSS which resulted to non-reporting of employees.,” SSS Baguio Branch Head Nancy Umoso said.

These employers were only given 15 days upon receipt of the order to report to SSS and explain why no case should be filed against them.

SSS also urged them to apply under the Contribution Penalty Condonation Program.

Umoso added that violations of the Republic Act No. 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018 are punishable by six to 12 years imprisonment and payment of fine of not less than P5,000 but not more than P20,000.

“Through this RACE campaign, we want to raise the awareness of employers of their legal obligations  under the law. As our partners in providing social security protection to their workers, SSS is here and we are offering them programs that will help them in paying off the contributions of their employees,” added BH Umoso.

SSS Baguio is set to conduct more RACE operations this year in Baguio City and nearby towns of Itogon, Sablan and Tuba in the province of Benguet.
