BAGUIO CITY – SM Foundation, Inc. (SMFI) has reaffirmed its commitment to bolstering the agricultural and entrepreneurial skills of farmers with the inauguration of the Benguet Sites for the Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan on Sustainable Agriculture Program (KSK-SAP).
The initiative, spearheaded by Ms. Cristie Angeles, SM Foundation’s Assistant Vice President for Livelihood and Outreach Programs, aims to empower local farmers in Benguet.
Commencing with the launch in Sitio Liwliw, Barangay Camp 4, Tuba Benguet on January 30, 2024, the KSK-SAP program will extend its reach to Barangay Bayabas in Sablan, Benguet, and Brgy Happy Hollow in Baguio City.
The comprehensive program, facilitated in collaboration with partner school Lily of the Valley Organic Farm, will provide farmers with crucial skills and knowledge in agriculture.
Following the training phase, SMFI will actively support farmers in forming groups, fostering the establishment of sustainable and profitable farming communities.
Partnering with agencies such as SM Supermalls, SM Market, TESDA, DA, DSWD, DOST, DTI, LGU, and partner farm schools, this assistance is designed to enhance the earning capacity of local farmers and contribute to economic growth.
Since its inception in 2007, KSK-SAP has benefited over 30,000 marginalized farmers through 305 KSK batches nationwide.
The program empowers farmers in both rural and urban areas, equipping them with enhanced entrepreneurial and farming capabilities.
Many program graduates have successfully transitioned into seasonal suppliers for the SM group and other local markets, showcasing the transformative impact of the KSK-SAP initiative.
