SM City Baguio joins DOE energy campaign
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — SM City Baguio joined the Department of Energy’s (DOE) nationwide O.N.E. (Oras Natin sa Efficiency: One Hour, One Energy, One Nation) campaign by switching off non-essential lights in support of energy conservation and sustainability.
The initiative, backed by Executive Order No. 110, encourages households, businesses, and institutions to turn off non-essential lights and devices from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Saturday.
The program aims to reduce peak electricity demand and help shield the country from volatile global energy markets through collective action.
SM Supermalls, including SM City Baguio, have committed to participate weekly by shutting down non-essential lighting and systems across their properties.
The effort forms part of the #SMGreenMovement, which promotes sustainability and encourages communities to take part in protecting resources through simple but meaningful actions.
DOE officials said the campaign highlights how small, everyday efforts can contribute to a more energy-conscious future nationwide.
SM Supermalls added that the symbolic switch-off demonstrates how malls can serve as platforms for collective sustainability practices.
