Shincheonji volunteers expand community outreach in Pasig, Cebu
MANILA, Philippines — Shincheonji Volunteers expanded its community outreach activities in the Philippines with a community pantry and feeding program in Pasig City and an environmental clean-up drive in Lapu-Lapu City, organizers said.
In Barangay Nagpayong, Pinagbuhatan, the group conducted the “Kain Na! Tara Na! Community Pantry and Feeding Program,” gathering nearly 100 participants, including 78 adult and child beneficiaries and 29 volunteers.
Families received fresh vegetables and home-cooked meals prepared by volunteers, while children took part in interactive games organized during the activity.
The outreach was held in partnership with Patok-Kenneth Neighborhood Association Inc., a homeowners association in the barangay.
Ma. Cristina Corpuz, the association’s secretary, said the initiative provided meaningful assistance to families and helped strengthen community ties among residents.
Organizers said Shincheonji Volunteers – Manila, together with the Barangay Pinagbuhatan local government, plans to continue similar programs in other areas within the community to reach more families.
In a separate activity in Cebu, volunteers carried out a clean-up drive in Lapu-Lapu City, removing plastic waste and debris from a heavily littered area.
The activity was organized in coordination with Barangay Gun-ob Waste Management to promote responsible waste disposal and improve environmental conditions in the community.
Organizers said the initiatives aim to encourage volunteerism and reflect service values rooted in the biblical teaching of Gospel of Matthew 5:16, which calls on believers to let their good works shine before others.
Shincheonji Church of Jesus–affiliated Shincheonji Volunteers operates globally, conducting humanitarian programs including blood donation drives, disaster response efforts, educational outreach and environmental campaigns.
