RECU-COR safely handles 1,000 lbs bomb unearthed in Sablan, Benguet

SABLAN, Benguet – The Regional EOD and Canine Unit- Cordillera (RECU-COR), in a swift response to a potential threat, successfully implemented safety protocols for handling an unexploded ordnance (UXO) discovered in Sitio Banao, Brgy Kamog, Sablan, Benguet on January 16, 2024.

The RECU-COR team received information from the Sablan Municipal Police Station (MPS) about a suspected UXO unearthed during road widening activities.

Upon verification, the operatives identified the unearthed UXO as a corroded 1,000 lbs General Purpose Bomb without fin assembly.

Acting swiftly, the RECU-COR team collaborated with the Sablan MPS and engaged the local community to ensure safety procedures were in place.

With their collective expertise, the team neutralized the threat and facilitated the transfer of the discovered UXO to the Firing Range in Clark Field, Pampanga for proper disposal.

The seamless coordination between RECU-COR, Sablan MPS, and the community averted potential harm, leaving the area secure and out of danger.
