LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Simple yet meaningful and solemn rites marked the celebration of the 126th Philippine Independence Day at Camp Major Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet, on June 12, 2024.
The event, honoring the theme “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan” (Freedom. Future. History), was led by PRO-CAR’s Regional Director, PBGEN David K. Peredo, Jr., together with the Deputy Regional Director for Administration, PBGEN Patrick Joseph G. Allan; the Deputy Regional Director for Operations, PCOL Elmer E. Ragay; the Chief Regional Staff, PCOL Julio S. Lizardo; and other key officers and personnel of PRO-CAR.
The highlight of the activity was the raising of the Philippine flag, a powerful symbol of the nation’s journey towards freedom, followed by PBGEN Peredo, Jr.’s delivery of a poignant message from the Chief of the Philippine National Police PGEN Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, underscoring the significance of the occasion.
In his message, he paid tribute to the bravery and nationalism of those who fought for our freedom, upholding the principles of democracy and valuing peace, justice, and human rights that we cherish today.
“As members of the Philippine National Police, we are entrusted with the solemn duty of upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of our fellow Filipinos. On this momentous occasion, let us reaffirm our commitment to the ideals of freedom, democracy, and nationhood. Let us stand united in our resolve to build a nation where every Filipino can thrive with dignity, equality, and opportunity,” PBGEN Peredo. Jr. stated emphatically.
He also recognized the loyalty and service of everyone within the organization as their sacrifices and dedication continue to ensure that our society thrives in safety and peace.
The ceremony concluded with the release of white doves as a symbolic gesture that signifies PRO-CAR’s aspirations for a peaceful and harmonious society.
As the doves soared into the sky, their flight represented the collective hope for a future filled with unity, progress, and tranquility.
