CAMP BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Recent operations orchestrated by the Police Regional Office (PRO) Cordillera have delivered a significant blow to the illegal drug trade, resulting in the confiscation of more than Php3 million worth of illicit substances and the apprehension of four individuals involved in drug-related activities.
These developments unfolded during an intensified anti-illegal drugs operations carried out across the provinces of Ifugao and Benguet on December 13 to 14, 2023.
In the province of Ifugao, the suspects arrested were identified as Munib G. Boransing (26 y/o), Faisolah D. Mangking (29 y/o), Christopher L. Bacani (22 y/o), and Monjewel S. Santos (19 y/o), as per reports submitted to PRO Cordillera regional director PBGEN David K. Peredo, Jr.
All hailed from Poblacion, Cabanatuan City, and were apprehended in connection with illicit drug transactions.
The coordinated efforts involved joint operatives from the Ifugao Police Provincial Office (PPO), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Ifugao, Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) 14, 1501st Maneuver Company Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15, and Kalinga PPO Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU).
The arrest of the suspects ensued after they purportedly sold two plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, weighing approximately 12 grams with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) amounting to Php 81,600.00, to an undercover police operative posing as a buyer.
Subsequent to their arrest, law enforcement officers seized a significant quantity of narcotics from the suspects’ possession.
This included 17 bricks of dried marijuana leaves, totaling an estimated 17 kilograms with an SDP of Php2,040,000.00.
Additionally, 10 pieces of elongated forms suspected to be dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops, weighing approximately 10 kilograms with an SDP of Php1,200,000.00, were recovered.
Following standard procedures, the arrested individuals and the confiscated evidence were brought to the custody of the Lamut Municipal Police Station for thorough documentation and appropriate handling.
The suspects are slated to face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, commonly known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
