LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — Police Brigadier General Noel Bayaca Vallo formally assumed office as the 34th regional director of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO CAR) on Sept. 1.

Vallo took charge of the regional police office during an Arrival Honors ceremony at Camp Major Bado Dangwa in La Trinidad, Benguet, following a turnover of command at Camp BGen Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City on Aug. 28, according to a press release issued by PRO CAR.

The assumption marks the start of Vallo’s leadership of PRO CAR, which describes itself as the “Home of the Most Disciplined Cops.”

PRO CAR said Vallo was received by Police Colonel Froiland B. Lopez, acting deputy regional director for operations, and welcomed through a traditional Cordilleran ceremony featuring gong music and a dance performance by the regional office’s cultural dancers.

The ceremony included the rendering of arrival honors, trooping of the line and signing of the guest book.

In remarks during the ceremony, Vallo stressed the need for police visibility and engagement beyond emergency situations and crime response.

“Mahalaga na nararamdaman ng ating mga kababayan ang presensya ng ating mga kapulisan; hindi lamang sa panahon ng krisis o kapag may nagaganap na krimen, kundi sa kanilang pang-araw-araw na pamumuhay at sa bawat komunidad na kanilang kinabibilangan,” Vallo said.

(“It is important that our fellow citizens feel the presence of our police officers, not only during times of crisis or when a crime occurs, but in their daily lives and in every community they belong to.”)

Vallo said police presence should be part of everyday community life, rather than being limited to responses to crises or reported crimes.

As regional director, Vallo is expected to oversee PRO CAR’s operations in the Cordillera and lead its personnel in maintaining peace and order, public safety and police services, the police office said.
