BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – In a commendable act of community service, members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) conducted a large-scale Clean-Up Drive last Saturday, August 17, 2024 across various barangays in Baguio City.
The initiative, aimed at promoting environmental health and preventing diseases such as Dengue, saw volunteers coming together to clean areas at risk of becoming mosquito breeding grounds.
The clean-up activities focused on high-risk areas, including grassy surroundings, drainage canals, stagnant water, and public spaces such as streets and schools.
These locations are known to attract mosquitoes, particularly the Aedes aegypti species, which is responsible for spreading Dengue—a potentially deadly illness.
Participants in the drive worked diligently to remove trash, clear blocked drainage systems, and ensure that no water was left stagnant, which could otherwise serve as a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
The effort was driven by the group’s concern for public health, recognizing the importance of maintaining a clean environment to reduce the risk of mosquito-borne diseases.
The INC’s clean-up drive not only contributes to the safety and well-being of the community but also sets a strong example of environmental stewardship.
As the city continues to navigate health challenges, community-driven efforts like these play a vital role in ensuring a safer and healthier environment for all.
The INC’s commitment to service underscores the power of unity in addressing public health concerns and preserving the well-being of the community.
