
BAGUIO CITY — A structural fire broke out at 13-B Baltazar St., Purok 6, Barangay Gibraltar at around 9:00 a.m. on July 14, 2025, destroying more than ten houses and displacing 27 families composed of 117 individuals.
Firefighters from the Baguio City Fire Station, under the command of FSUPT Marisol Hernandez Odiver, City Fire Marshal, promptly responded and contained the blaze by 10:20 a.m.
Authorities are investigating the cause.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong visited the fire site to assess damage and ensure immediate government assistance.
According to City Social Welfare and Development Officer Liza Bulayungan, most of the displaced families are temporarily staying with relatives, while two families are currently housed at the Gibraltar Evacuation Center.
The City Public Information Office reported that affected families received Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) of ₱20,000 per owner of totally damaged homes, along with family food packs, hygiene kits, blankets, and psychological first aid.
Rotary Clubs from Baguio and La Trinidad, as well as alumni from Saint Louis School of Pacdal, Inc. Batch 2020–2021, joined efforts in providing relief and support.
Meanwhile, Gibraltar barangay officials immediately launched a donation drive to further aid victims in recovery.
