Philippine Masters athletes bag seven medals in Singapore meet

BAGUIO CITY — Three Filipino Masters athletes delivered a strong showing at the Singapore International Masters Track & Field Championship, bringing home seven medals across multiple events despite a lean delegation.

Asad Raza clinched gold in the men’s 50–54 5000m, while Jayson Castillo dominated the men’s 40–44 category with victories in the 100m and long jump.

Castillo also added silver medals in the 200m and high jump, plus a bronze in the 400m.

Mark Jason Quiñones of Baguio City secured silver in the men’s 35–39 200m, rounding out the Philippines’ medal tally.

The two-day competition, held June 6–7, highlighted the growing presence of Filipino Masters athletes on the international stage.

Organizers said the event drew veteran competitors from across Asia, underscoring the role of Masters sports in promoting lifelong athletic excellence.
