CAMP BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet — The Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) warmly received Commission on Elections Cordillera (COMELEC-CAR) director Julius D. Torres during his visit to Camp Bado Dangwa in La Trinidad, Benguet, on July 17, 2023.
Regional Director David K. Peredo, Jr. led the men and women of PROCOR in extending a warm welcome to Director Torres during his visit, where they celebrated the occasion with a traditional welcome dance performed by PROCOR cultural dancers.
As part of the Distinguished Visitor’s Program, PLTCOL Vivian B. Paclibon, the Acting Chief of the Regional Information and Communication Technology Management Division (RICTMD), hosted Director Torres as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.
During the visit, PBGEN Peredo Jr. and Director Torres led the recognition ceremony, awarding PNP Medals to eight deserving members of PROCOR.
These police officers were commended for their exemplary contributions to the achievement of PROCOR’s plans and programs.
In his message, Director Torres expressed his gratitude to the men and women of PROCOR for their unwavering dedication and integrity, which have resulted in the peaceful conduct of elections in the region over the years.
He acknowledged the pivotal role played by the police force in maintaining a secure environment for voters and candidates alike.
“The Barangay Elections are manual elections; they’re not automated. That’s why it is most important to emphasize the role of the Philippine National Police as the primary agency in charge of the peace and order of the country, Dir. Torres said.
Director Torres also expressed confidence that, with the support of PROCOR, the upcoming Sangguniang Kabataan and Barangay Elections would be conducted smoothly and peacefully.
“I believe that we are partners; the COMELEC cannot run the election all by itself; we all need you; we need all our partner agencies; and it is through full cooperation and support among all of us that will ensure the success of this coming election, Dir. Torres added.
With the combined efforts of both organizations, the upcoming BSKE is expected to be conducted with utmost professionalism, security, and transparency, ensuring a peaceful expression of democratic rights in the Cordillera region.
