LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Police Regional Office Cordillera (PRO-COR), under the leadership of Regional Director PBGEN David K Peredo, Jr., celebrated the 33rd PNP Foundation Day on February 21, 2024, at the Masigasig Grandstand, Camp Major Bado Dangwa.

The event was graced by the presence of the Representative of the Lone District of Benguet, Hon. Eric Go Yap, who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

Upon his arrival, Hon. Yap was accorded an arrival honor and a traditional welcome dance performed by the PRO Cordillera Cultural Dancers.

A highlight of the activity was the awarding of medals to 17 PRO Cordillera personnel in recognition of their notable accomplishments.

The awards were presented by Hon. Yap, PBGEN Peredo, Jr., and the members of the Command Group.

In his message, Rep. Yap lauded the sacrifices and accomplishments of the police officers of PRO Cordillera and assured his full support for the plans and projects of PRO Cordillera. He encouraged everyone by saying, “Lahat po tayo ay dumadaan sa hirap o failures, pero doon sa mga failures natin, doon po tayo maraming natututanan. Hindi po tayo sumusuko gaya ng mga kapulisan.”

(We all go through hardships or failures, but it is in our failures that we learn a lot. We do not give up like the police.)

The commemorative event concluded with the unveiling of the SAF44 Memorial and a wreath-laying ceremony at the PRO Cordillera Heroes Monument, led by Rep. Yap and PBGEN Peredo, Jr.

The ceremony was followed by a blessing officiated by the Regional Pastoral Officer, Rev. Father (PMAJ) Alexander V Pardo.

The PNP Founding Anniversary serves as a tribute to the establishment of the PNP on January 29, 1991, through the enactment of Republic Act No. 6975.

This year’s commemoration was celebrated with the theme: “Serbisyong Nagkakaisa at may Malasakit sa Kapwa, tungo sa Maunlad at Ligtas na Bansa.”

The wreath-laying is a symbol of tribute to the Police Heroes who sacrificed their lives for the peace and tranquility of our Motherland.
