COMCO, Make-A-Wish conclude Wish to Ignite campaign

MANILA — Communications group COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises and the Make-A-Wish Foundation have concluded Wish to Ignite, a special edition of the Write to Ignite storytelling initiative that highlighted the experiences of children living with critical illnesses whose wishes were granted by the nonprofit organization.

The organizations said the initiative formed the fourth season of COMCO Mundo’s Write to Ignite program, which invites writers and digital content creators to produce stories intended to promote hope, resilience and meaningful storytelling.

According to the organizers, 25 volunteer “WishStorytellers” from across the Philippines joined the campaign.

Fifteen participants were able to interview and document the experiences of Make-A-Wish beneficiaries, while 10 others supported the initiative despite being unable to meet assigned wish children because of logistical and other challenges.

The participating storytellers were recognized during COMCO Mundo’s recent virtual Catch-Up with COMCOmigos event, held as part of the communications group’s 10th anniversary activities.

The organizations also presented special citations to three contributors whose entries were cited for storytelling, creativity and audience engagement.

Edmar Guquib of Edmaration received a citation for his story, Dealing With HIV, Being Orphaned, And Wishes That Came True.

Berlin Domingo of Momi Berlin was recognized for The Girl Who Found Light in a Song, while Katrina Rivera of Kuwento ni Kat received a citation for A Hero After All.

Bondoy, Group Chief Executive Director and Lead Strategic Communications Counsel, Partner and Co-Founder of COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises, said in a statement.

According to COMCO Mundo and Make-A-Wish, the campaign sought to document the personal journeys of children with critical illnesses while highlighting the role of wish-granting experiences in fostering hope, resilience and lasting memories for beneficiaries and their families.

Make-A-Wish Foundation, established in 1980, describes itself as the world’s largest wish-granting organization for children with critical illnesses.

COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises said it will continue the Write to Ignite program as part of its advocacy promoting meaningful storytelling and community engagement.
