CAMP BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Regional Field Unit (RFU) 14 Cordillera has announced the arrest of 37 wanted personalities and the apprehension of eight other individuals as a result of their heightened anti-criminality campaigns throughout January 2024.
A comprehensive report from CIDG Cordillera revealed that a total of 44 operations were conducted, leading to the arrest of 45 personalities and the filing of 10 cases in court, showcasing the unit’s relentless investigative prowess.
Under the targeted anti-criminality initiative dubbed “Oplan Pagtugis,” CIDG Cordillera detectives apprehended seven Top Most Wanted Persons (TMWP) and 30 other wanted individuals implicated in various offenses.
Among the TMWP apprehended, three were identified as Regional TMWP, while two each were tagged as Provincial and Municipal level TMWP, respectively.
In the campaign against illegal gambling, known as “Oplan Bolilyo,” CIDG Cordillera conducted five successful operations resulting in the arrest of five illegal collectors, alongside the confiscation of Php21,173.00 in cash bets.
Furthermore, a targeted operation under “Oplan Paglalansag Omega” against loose firearms led to the arrest of two individuals involved in illegal firearm transactions.
In a separate endeavor titled “Oplan Olea,” CIDG Cordillera successfully executed an entrapment operation, resulting in the arrest of an individual for extortion.
The case stemmed from a complaint filed by a private individual alleging threats to disseminate compromising photos on social media unless extortion demands were met.
Regional Chief of CIDG Cordillera, PCOL Leon P. Talleo attributed the successful arrest of 45 individuals within a month to the unit’s intensified and enhanced anti-criminality flagship projects.
He commended the dedication and diligence of CIDG personnel for their outstanding accomplishments in maintaining law and order within the region.
