BENECO warns public against GCash payment scammers

BAGUIO CITY — The Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO) has warned member-consumer owners (MCOs) about individuals posing as BENECO employees and soliciting electricity bill payments through direct GCash transfers.

In an advisory, BENECO clarified that it does not collect payments via GCash “Send Money” or personal transfer methods.

The cooperative stressed that the only valid digital payment method through GCash is the Bills Payment feature, where consumers must specifically search for BENECO to ensure proper posting.

The cooperative urged the public to remain vigilant against scammers and follow official payment channels to avoid fraudulent transactions.

BENECO said the advisory aims to protect consumers and ensure accurate crediting of electricity payments.

BENECO encouraged MCOs to share the information to prevent further incidents.
