BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has approved a one-year extension of the interim operations and maintenance contract for John Hay Golf, ensuring uninterrupted public access to the historic golf course in Camp John Hay, Baguio City through 2026.
The extension covers the continued management of the course by Golfplus Management, Inc. and Duck Sports and Music Productions, Inc., following the successful transition of John Hay Golf into a public golf facility.
BCDA said the move allows stable operations while longer-term arrangements for sustainable management are being finalized.
BCDA President and CEO Joshua M. Bingcang said maintaining the golf course remains a priority, stressing the balance between preserving its heritage and delivering quality services.
“Extending the interim management ensures the uninterrupted operation of the John Hay Golf Course while safeguarding public access and maintaining the quality of services expected by golfers and visitors,” Bingcang said.
As part of the extended engagement, interim managers will organize the BCDA Chairman’s Cup in 2026 and continue implementing facility and amenity improvements.
Major tournaments and events will also be sustained to reinforce the course’s role as a premier sports and recreation destination in Baguio City.
John Hay Golf recently co-hosted the 75th Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament with Baguio Country Club.
Luisita team skipper Abe Rosal praised the course condition, describing it as “the best shape I’ve seen John Hay,” citing lush fairways and fair greens.
Beyond tournaments, the golf course continues youth development initiatives in partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission and the National Golf Association of the Philippines, granting free access to boys and girls aged 18 and below.
BCDA said John Hay Golf will remain open to the public, with various playing rights and access options available upon payment of applicable green fees.
