BAGUIO CITY -Baguio reaffirmed its status as a safe city with the Baguio City Police (BAGUIO’s FINEST) leading the Unit Performance Evaluation Rating (UPER) across Cordillera for July 2024.
The police force achieved this top ranking through outstanding performance in a weeklong Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) and reported fewer incidents in the first three weeks of August.
In the latest UPER released by the Police Regional Office – Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO-CAR), the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) ranked first among seven other police office in the region, with an average score of 97.19 in both the operational and administrative aspects of law enforcement.
This reflects the high level of professionalism and quality of service that the police force consistently delivers to the community.
Significantly, BCPO operatives also achieved remarkable results in a weeklong SACLEO from August 11 to 17, conducting a total of 37 operations and leading to the apprehension of 37 individuals.
According to reports submitted to BCPO City Director Francisco B. Bulwayan Jr., 22 wanted individuals were apprehended, including seven listed among the Top Most Wanted Persons at both the Regional and City levels.
The Baguio police also conducted four anti-illegal drug operations, resulting in the arrest of ten High-Value Individuals (HVIs) and two Street-Level Individuals (SLIs).
These operations led to the seizure of suspected shabu and marijuana worth over Php750,000.
Security of the residents were strengthened with BCPO’s campaign against loose firearms, arresting two individual who violated Republic Act 10591, or the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act”.
Police were able to confiscate one firearm, while seven were surrendered to the authorities.
Fortifying the nation’s fight against illegal gambling, one operation was executed, resulting in the arrest of one violator.
The effectiveness and efficiency of Baguio’s anti-criminality measures were further demonstrated by a 30% decrease in crime incidents during the first 20 days of August compared to the same period in July.
Despite this success, the BCPO continues to remind the public about the importance of road safety, as reckless imprudence involving traffic remains the most reported crime.
Setting the benchmark for the city’s dropping trend in crimes, the BCPO remains relentless in its efforts to ensure a peaceful and safe environment for all.
