Baguio cops save seizure patient in Irisan
BAGUIO CITY — Personnel from the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) Station 9 demonstrated that their duty extends far beyond law enforcement after responding to a medical emergency involving a seizure patient in Barangay Irisan on the evening of May 7.
Upon receiving a dispatch call from Purok 1, PEMS Benedick Butic, PCpl Meldrin Dubadob, and PCpl Randy Anneb arrived at the scene to find a female resident in critical need of assistance.
Rather than waiting for medical units to arrive, the officers immediately assessed the patient’s condition and initiated emergency care.
Recognizing the severity of the situation, the trio coordinated with the Bureau of Fire Protection–Emergency Medical Services (BFP-EMS).
The joint effort between the police and fire department responders ensured the patient was stabilized before being transported by ambulance to the hospital for specialized treatment.
The officers involved bring a wealth of diverse backgrounds to the force.
Butic is a member of PNP SAF Class 2002 and a native of Hingyon, Ifugao, while Dubadob and Anneb are Baguio locals from the PSBRC “Habagat” and “Makatindig” classes, respectively.
Local authorities noted that the incident highlights the versatility of the city’s police force, proving their readiness to handle urgent public safety and medical crises alongside traditional peace and order duties.
